Tell us what you did before Riada...

My background is primarily in Hospitality Management where I have opened, re-branded and managed very successful cafes and restaurants for over 30 years. This passion for the hospitality industry and my journey to Riada began when I studied food and beverage service at the college of business studies in Belfast. From there, I went on to study a B-Tech from the Northern Regional College in business and finance. I'm proud I have been able to put my studies into practice in my working life.
Previously I was a Business Sales Developer for a catering company and a large, well known, wholesale group. I have also worked as a retail sales manager for small groups and independents. I always take ownership of every role I ever work in...that is what I owe my success to.

And now you're a recruitment specialist...
I am currently the hospitality and retail recruitment specialist for Riada in our Coleraine branch. I love how every day is different and very busy. Everyone at Riada really knows the spirit of teamwork and it's really rewarding working among like - minded, driven colleagues who share the same work ethic and values as myself. We all strive for success.

Tell us what you love about specialising in hospitality recruitment...

The hospitality industry gives endless opportunities to people from all walks of life, from kitchen porters through to general managers - the scope and potential to progress is exciting. I’m passionate about customer service and training and use this to help clients and candidates.

I have been lucky in my career in that I have worked in environments that achieve results on a daily basis. Working in recruitment is hard work but perhaps more enjoyable than any job I've had before as results and success take time, care and patience from all of us. The satisfaction we get after all our hard work has paid off is just fantastic.

Is there anything you wish other people knew about Riada?
We genuinely care about every candidate and client we deal with, wanting only the best for them. It's so lovely having our candidates get in contact and let us know how much they are enjoying their new job and thanking us for the hard work we did to get them there.

What has been the highlight of your career?

It's hard to pick just one, but if I had to choose I would say the times that I have been involved in the opening of new restaurants and retail outlets. I thrive on a challenge and I take ownership of every role I have ever worked in, so seeing your plans come to life and the success of these is great.

What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

Anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I encourage and motivate every candidate I meet with this advice in mind.

What are your priorities for the year ahead at Riada Resourcing?

I see the need for specialist training in the hospitality industry. The potential for hospitality establishments to improve their customer service, floor space and menu designs is huge and I have the knowledge to consult. Likewise for people wanting to develop their own careers, the advice and training I can provide will help them realise their full potential.
