Female Entrepreneur Conference key to future NI Economic Success

Updated: Sep 29, 2021

Riada, along with over 400 delegates including business owners, entrepreneurs and start-ups gathered to attend the fourth Annual Female Entrepreneurs Conference, in association with Women in Business and Enterprise Causeway at the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena on 3rd March 2020.

The continuing theme for the Female Entrepreneurs Conference was “Be Bold for Progress”, designed to inspire all attendees by providing them with world class and high-quality speakers who shared their views on how to build business for the future, what it will look like and how we will work in it. The future of enterprise, ambition, leadership and business was discussed by 3 keynote speakers Collete Twomey, MD and co-founder of Clonakilty Food Co, Mandy Hickson former RAF Pilot and Mairead Mackle alongside a local panel of entrepreneurs who shared their stories of struggle, successes and learnings. The practical advice and first hand stories highlighted to everyone that all success stems from hard work, commitment and making the right connections along the journey.

For the second year, the conference which is sponsored by YES YOU CAN, the female enterprise support programme, featured the YES YOU CAN £20K Pitching competition. The annual competition is a collaboration between Women in Business, 11 Local Councils and Invest NI which saw six regional winners pitch against one another to win £5k investment. Clare Caughey, founder of SENsations Nest, from Lisburn and Castlereagh was announced as the winner. Along with 35 other regional finalists, they demonstrate that female entrepreneurs are leading the way in Northern Ireland - in fact, over 50% of participants in council run startup programme ‘Go For It’ are currently female.

The Be Bold Conference ensures our team stay resilient in the face of adversity, remain passionate about our personal and professional goals and enables us to enhance our connections with leading employers throughout the NI business community. Riada would like to congratulate all finalists, speakers and panel of entrepreneurs for an extremely motivating, thought provoking day. We are passionate about supporting individual and collective growth and are looking forward to witnessing the positive impact the next generation of entrepreneurs have on the Northern Ireland economic landscape.
