Did you know August 1st marks the start of Happiness Happens Month?
The purpose of Happiness Happens Month is to get people talking more about the experiences that make them happy. If you get into the habit of noticing and appreciating the things that bring you happiness, then your time will then be better spent as you begin to focus more of your energy on the good things in your life.
The average UK employee will spend roughly 3,515 days working in their lifetime - In terms of time spent, the average UK employee works 35 hours per week which adds up to 1,795 hours per year. Since we spend a significant portion of our lives working, it needs to be one of our mostly happy places.
We all know how important happiness is for wellbeing, and this month is the perfect time to focus on boosting yours. Here, Riada share 4 ideas to help you boost your happiness at work and at home.
1.Morning routine: Starting your day on a positive note sets the tone for the rest of your day. Create a morning routine that incorporates activities that make you feel good and will make your day easier. Whether it’s practicing mindfulness, making your bed first thing, or enjoying a brisk morning walk, find what works best for you.
2. Eat healthier: Our mood and energy levels can be vastly impacted by the food we consume, which is why it’s so important to make a conscious effort to embrace a healthier diet.
3.Take breaks away from your desk: Breaks are essential for helping you to maintain productivity and your overall wellbeing at work, providing an opportunity for you to recharge and rejuvenate. Go for a short walk or head to a nearby coffee shop? By allowing yourself regular breaks, you’ll return to your work tasks with more energy and more focus.
4.Hobbies: It’s important to make time for activities that bring you joy outside of work. Engaging in your favourite hobbies allows you to relax, recharge and tap into your passions. Riada have incorporated employee passions into the workplace, as part of our Work Well Live Well programme in collaboration with Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke. Find out more here.
